Also coming out next month, September 7th to be exact, is the new album from Yo La Tengo, Popular Songs, on Matador. If “Here to Fall”, the albums opener, is any indication, this album cooks up a soulful, slow burning psychedelic stew of musical influences with the kind of meticulous playing and production that Yo La Tengo have become known for. Director John McSwain has created a, “multi-song visual accompaniment to the album”, and the band will be releasing a video a week until it’s release next month! Till then, check out the first two!!
Also up this week, Jay Reatard wrecks and gets wrecked at some kid’s birthday party, Viva Voce soothes like hot honey, and Julian Plenti is really that Interpol guy on a long vacation…
