Great new videos this week streaming from our TV PARTY webcast, so let’s jump right in! Dum Dum Girls new Sub Pop album, I Will Be, is full of garage gems, and now we have some groovy, 60’s style visuals for their first single off the album, “Jail La La”. Speaking of groovy, pick up the 7″ for this song and you will get, on the B-side, a cover of The Rolling Stones “Play With Fire”, which was once a B-side to the single “The Last Time”, before it made it’s way onto their 1965 album, Out of Our Heads. And, really, that tells you a lot about the Dum Dum Girls! CONTINUE READING

We’ve been raving for awhile about the understated and astute pop elegance on The xx‘s self-titled, debut release on Young Turks. They’ve made videos for several tracks off the album including “VCR” and “Basic Spaces”, and now we have one for “Islands”, complete with choreographed dance moves and well lit stage sets. Directed by Saam, the video also features band members Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim delivering the tense, emotional back-and-forth that makes these songs simmer.
After two years of touring Holy Fuck have a new album, Latin, and, again, are hitting the road in late May for US tour dates. This week we have the video for the song “Latin America”, and, indeed, it is full of touring images and summer fun, but more importantly the song features the kind of face melting riffs that are beginning to distinguish the band as truly holy fuckers.
Ah, the kids. Avi Buffalo began as a wanna-be skateboard kid from Long Beach, named Avi, who turned his better talent for guitar into a high school band with friends, and named it, of course, Avi Buffalo. Well, it seems these kids can play and write some pretty bent pop songs, and word spread fast. Soon the band found themselves recording with Aaron Embry (Emmy Lou Harris sideman, etc.), and it wasn’t long before the folks at Sub Pop took notice of the first track they posted to Myspace, “What’s In It For?” Well, guess what, we have the video for that track, and it’s also on their new self-titled album…
All forms harden and die, and when they do, they need to be taken back to their source. It’s the Brutal Truth, and the band was back last year to maul a little life back into the tired grindcore scene, with their first album in ten years for Relapse Records, called Evolution Through Revolution. The video was too good to pass up. Let’s grind!
The New Pornographers have put out their fifth album, Together, on Matador Records, and this week we have the video for the single, “Your Hands (Together)”, directed by band member Blaine Thurier. Seems someone has been trainin’ at the dojo.
And to wrap up this edition of the TV PARTY, a music video from Brooklyn metal-stars Tombs for the song “Gossamer”. The band released the very heavy Winter Hours last year on Relapse Records, and it was full of dark and glacial beauty. Tombs, are some of art metals finest, and we also caught up with them in Seattle at Neumos for this Live Eye Tv netcast.
Enjoy! Keep your ears and eyes open for new MP3s and live performances coming soon…
