In 2008, Nobunny rammed his short bus into the West Coast trash-punk scene with his debut, full-length Love Visions, on Bubbledumb Records. Later re-released on vinyl and CD by 1-2-3-4 Go! Records, Love Visions was an infectious repurposing of the discarded junk in Rock N’ Rolls garage, and listening to it one could imagine piecing together a roadmap of an Old & Weirder America full of rowdy roadhouses and small town kids on the “make”. Home recorded by Justin Champlin (Sneaky Pinks founder, Okmoniks drummer), Love Visions was sexed up and hot rodding straight for the heart of the teenage Id!
Dysfunctional love eruptions followed as Nobunny hit the road with whatever mental-ward rejects (line-ups have included Mr. So Cow, Jason “Elvis Christ” Testasecca, Trent “Dirt Turd” Purdy, and the Okmonics, to name a few) he could find touring the states and Europe in various pairs of underwear, knee pads, trash jackets and, as always, that damp and dismantled “bunny” mask. Screwball antics and the ability to bash around all things bubblegum-covered and punk made the live experience a true beer and sweat soaked Rock N’ Roll Revival, something like crossing state-lines with a known criminal.
This past year Nobunny put out a bunch of new material, Raw Romance on Burger Records, Braceface on Douchmaster, and First Blood on Goner. Mr Champlin continues to raid the Vintage Store, pilfering with aplumb a smattering of styles from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. The new albums travel through psych-tinged, jangle pop on last years April release, Raw Romance, while strutting with swagger to the glam rock vibe of September’s First Blood! Lot’s of great tunes to check out on those slabs o’ wax, ‘fer sure!
Live Eye Tv caught up with Nobunny this February in Seattle at the Funhouse and it was a hot mess of fluids and liquor. When that damn bunny wasn’t busy wiping his butt on our cameras we got great stuff, and just couldn’t choose what we liked best, so we gave you a big sloppy plate full! Stream it. Podcast it.
