Today, we have a new music video from Edmonton native Alex Calder for the track “Light Leave Your Eyes“, which will be on his up-coming Captured Tracks EP, Time, out on March 19th. Calder’s couch surfing bohemian days in Vancouver were well documented in fellow Edmonton native Mac DeMarco‘s “Only You” video, with Calder playing the platinum wigged female lead to a cult of strange Illuminati. Seems like Calder’s only kinda left those days behind after moving back to his mom’s place in that cold, oil town, high on the Canadian plains. The artist explores sweetly off-kilter melodies on his up-coming, home recorded collection for Captured Tracks, with “Light Leave Your Eyes” showing off his knack for wistful, jangle-pop. The video, filmed by Booze, has a solipsistic Mr. Calder composited against 8mm footage of old parties, as he remembers those wild, by-gone gypsy days, while drinking Bud and smoking in his mom’s room.
