It takes awhile to re-perfect the Golden Era of Flying Nun Records, or least it has for Oakland’s Legs. Founding members Jeffrey Harland and New Zealand native Matt Bullimore bonded back in 2000 while exchanging Weezer bootlegs in a Safeway parking lot, and while maintaining years of friendship the two played in several short-lived bands, before forming Legs in 2011. Initially, the band served as a recording project, with the duo meeting twice a week at a practice space in West Oakland to hash out and record demos on a borrowed 4-track. After a years work, Harland and Bullimore were encouraged enough by their progress to invite other players into the circle, and the band added Harland’s partner Amelia Adams on vocals and Kevin Walker on drums. Legs will release it’s debut LP, Pass the Ringo, April 23rd on SF’s Loglady Records. The album’s first single, “Two Colours”, achieves the nostalgic air of vintage New Zealand jangle-pop on the strength of singer Amelia Adams wistful, sweet vocals and strong, sing-a-long guitar melodies.
