OOFJ (pronounced O of J) debut the track “Opal Skin” today, which will be on their up-coming release Disco To Die To, out March 25th via the band’s imprint ClapYouClapMe. The band began as a solo project for Jenno Bjørnkjær while he was playing in his band Hessismore, and composing film music for Lars Von Trier‘s Melancholia, but after meeting the vocalist Katherine Mills Rymer the project shifted gears to accommodate her as a new memeber. The duo recorded their first track while in South Africa to attend the funeral for the passing of Rhymer’s father, and they would go on to record while on winter travels thru the Swiss Alps, Germany and Copenhagen. Rymer would return to her childhood home in South Africa, recording more vocal tracks, while Bjørnkjær, amazingly, would record musical accompaniement for the record with the Prague Symphony Orchestra. The couple eventually reunited in LA to finish the album, and to form their own label for it’s release. Check out the seductive throb of “Opal Skin”, which pulses to an eery light of cinematic strings and Rymer’s wide-eyed, Julee Cruise-like vocal delivery.
