Check out the new video for Disappears’ mickey slippin’ track “Love Drug“, off their stellar 2012 LP Pre-Language, out on Kranky Records. Directed by Michael Patrick Mayer, the video recasts various found footage in a filmic style using hypnotic flashing and images that hang on the edge of perceptible to visually augment the songs irresistible downward pull. Drummer Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth) left the band last year due to scheduling conflicts, and has since been replaced by Noah Leger (Electric Hawk, Anatomy of Habit), but on this track Shelley’s circular, crisply fired beat creates a powerful, centrifugal force for Brian Case‘s incanted lyric, and the music’s trance inducing qualities. Disappears head out for some select US dates this coming April! Check them out below.
