In the new video released this week for Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds‘ track “Jubilee Street”, le petit mort meets le grand mort, as Cave narrates a sordid tale of erotic commerce and personal recrimination. Beautifully stylized and well shot by Cave’s longtime film collaborator John Hillcoat (director for Cave’s films The Proposition and Lawless), the video also features British actor Ray Winstone as a seedy john trolling “Jubilee Street”. Cave’s lean voice carve’s out fully realized characters, here, and with his poetic eye for detail and dramatic flair, he provides them with dark foibles and human graces.
