New Music, Videos & Tour Dates: Chelsea Light Moving “Burroughs” and “Frank O’Hara Hit”

1333

While Sonic Youth might be on hiatus, it sure has given longtime players Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon, Lee Renaldo, and Steve Shelley a chance to stretch their creative legs. Thurston Moore‘s new project Chelsea Light Moving, named after the moving company briefly run by avant composers Phillip Glass and Steve Reich, includes guitarist Keith Wood (Hush Arbors), drummer John Moloney (Sun Burned Hand of the Man), and multi-instrumentalist and solo artist Samara Lubelski on bass.

While Moore’s recent solo efforts Trees Outside the Academy and Demolished Thoughts found the artist exploring some acoustic and chamber rock territory, Chelsea Light Moving’s self-titled debut is fully plugged in returning the guitarist/vocalist to the thrashier, trashier side of the art rock he perfected so well with Sonic Youth. Chelsea Light Moving comes out March 5th via Matador Records, and the record is currently playing over at NPR’s First Listen.

Below, the band reps the NYC literary underground on the tracks “Burroughs” and “Frank O’Hara Hit“, “detonates” a birthday party for a basement video session in Haydenville, MA, and hits the road, so don’t miss the dates below!
