New Music: Lapalux “Moveoutofmyway (feat. ShadowBox)”

1979

Lapalux‘s amazing debut Nostalchic is out now on Brainfeeder, and today the UK producer made the non-album track “Moveoutofmyway (feat. ShadowBox)” available as a free download via Soundcloud. Raised in rural Essex, Stuart Howard‘s electronic dance music is notable for it’s peripatetic use of open space and nuanced structures. While the artist draws upon the moods of dub-step, as well as a deeply embedded sense for soul and r&b, what makes his music unique is the ease with which it wanders and navigates thru passages of emotive texture and strikingly empty space. It’s rare to encounter a track such as “Moveoutofmyway“, obstensibly a dance or club track once it’s allowed to pass thru all of it’s various sonic zones, but if this is the club, the ceiling has been removed to reveal the night sky! On it, Howard exchanges 2-step garage for beats that are often mostly hinted at, giving the song the ability to breathe and walk-on as whim dictates, and using gorgeous vocals from New York producer and songstress ShadowBox, it sure covers an amazing amount of distance as it makes it’s way thru the city night.
