Olympia, Washington’s Milk Music will put out the CD version of their debut LP Cruise Your Illusion on Fat Possum tomorrow, while self-releasing vinyl versions. The follow-up to the band’s raucous Beyond Living 12″ find’s the boys cleaning up a bit of fuzz and noise without losing sonic intensity, and while gaining more room to truly let their freak flags fly. Recorded to tape via four track at High Command in Olympia by the legendary Captain Trips, the record really benefits from this raw, scaled back approach, giving it the sound of classic, SST-era American punk. What stands out on tracks like “Cruising With God” and “I’ve Got A Wild Feeling” is the band’s unabashedly idiosyncratic take on things, as well as their adherence to a sound and vision slightly, if not willfully, out of step with new music! Milk Music heads out for a US tour later this June, so don’t miss the dates below.
