We can look forward to a new full-length from the Montreal trio No Joy on April 23rd! The band will follow-up the swirling, blistering shoegaze of their 2012 EP Negaverse, with Wait To Pleasure, their newest effort for Mexican Summer. Recorded by Jorge Elbrecht (Violens, Lansing-Dreiden) over a two week span last year at the label’s Gary’s Electric studio, the new record was the band’s first from a real recording environment. “Hare Tarot Lies“, our second listen in on the up-coming LP, reveals just how much No Joy has benefited from the studio setting. While Jasamine White-Gluz, Laura Lloyd and Garland Hastings’ allegiance to shoegaze is still evident in their densely saturated sonic layers, more room exists here for this track to be, first and foremost, a haunting pop song. Instead of shredding into oblivion on giants walls of guitar, No Joy carves nuanced channels thru “Hare Tarot Lies” to find something even more emotive and sharp in their sound! The band heads out on tour later this month with Clinic and METZ, so don’t miss the dates below.
