TEEN follow up their excellent debut In Limbo with a new EP for Carpark Records, Carolina, due out May 28th. Recorded with producer Daniel Schlett at Strange Weather studio in Brooklyn, Teeny Lieberson and the ladies sought a more straightforward path for the new one, steering away from the interweaving and syncopated melodies that had characterized the songs on their first record. Lieberson explains, “It felt like the next step forward would be to take a more simplistic, live approach, play lines in unison and create a different kind of conversation between the instruments.” And yet the results are in no way simplistic, as this new track “Paradise” reveals. More straightforward, maybe, but this more structured route is filled to the brim with great musical ideas, and led confidently by Teeny’s vocals, which have seemed to gain more prominence in the mix. TEEN will begin a North American tour with Eleanor Friedberger starting June 4th. Check out the dates below.
