New Track: Octo Octa “Please Don’t Leave”

The Brooklyn-based electronic producer Michael Bouldry-Morrison will return with his Octo Octa project on May 28th, for a new release on 100% Silk. The cryptically titled Between Two Selves will be a 2×12″, featuring eight tracks of Octo Octa’s house inflected, sonic erotics. Straddling the chasm between abandon and restraint, Bouldry-Morrison’s music focuses around the dynamics of desire. Our first preview from Between Two Selves, “Work Me“, rolled up it’s sleeves for a slowly building but seriously athletic dance track, with it’s throbbing, four-to-the-floor rhythm inspiring sweaty, intricate foot work. Our newest taste, “Please Don’t Leave“, however, occupies a chillier domaine, with desire still hanging over the whole affair, but now like a melancholy ghost thwarted by regret and loss. For the cut, cloudy, blue-grey tones prevail, as Bouldry-Morrison builds his cascading house pulse around pitch-shifted and monkish vocals uttering the refrain, “I don’t want you to go”. Don’t worry Michael, there could be some hot, make-up sex to look forward to!
