Need a fix of sonic trash for your ears? Well, the Portland noise-punks Big Black Cloud might be just the brand of filth you’re looking for! The band’s current line-up has been pared down to a trio with Nick Capello on guitar and vocals, Soo Koelbli on bass and vocals, and Travis Wainwright on drums. While the band currently resides in the Northwest, we are told that they are transplants from the “swampy south”, and if you’re looking to locate their sound on the noise spectrum Am-Rep bands like The Cows or Dwarves, or more modern purveyors of audio raunch like Daughters, would be a good place to start…Nice to see noise-punks still read degenerate literature, and any William Burroughs reference always gets a big thumbs up from me. “Cities of the Red Night” backs it up with caustic blasts of guitar squall, break-neck turns, and a maniacal shouting match between Capello and Koelbli!
