Smith Westerns return June 25th with a new LP, Soft Will, coming out on Mom+Pop. After playing over 140 shows in support of 2011’s Dye It Blonde (Fat Possum), the Chicago trio which features brothers Cullen and Cameron Omori, as well as Max Kakacek, returned home to begin writing their follow-up LP. Soft Will was recorded in August of 2012 with Chris Coady (Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, !!!) at the Sonic Ranch in El Paso, TX. On “Idol” the band continues to refine their dreamy power-pop with excellent song-craft and open well-balanced arrangements, giving the track an almost stately elegance…Smith Westerns kick off a North American tour this coming July, so give the dates a look to see if they will be playing near you!
