This past Spring Daniel Blumberg left Yuck to concentrate on releasing his own music, and now we know his new project Hebronix will put out the Unreal LP via ATP Recordings on July 9th. In talking with Drew Fortune of Interview Magazine, Blumberg explains that he grew tired of playing the same songs in the same way night after night, trying to sell albums. Attending a Keiji Haino show, unaware of what he was in for, proved to be perspective shifting event, as the Japanese musician improvised alone on his guitar in his “unstructured” and “very creative” way. Blumberg says, “What he was doing just really struck me…I realized that I started playing guitar a lot again after that show, when I hadn’t been playing for months before that. I was playing guitar in a different way, and I wrote this record in a very different way than other records I’ve made, because it started with guitar.” The new Hebronix video for “Viral“, off the up-coming record, is directed by Blumberg’s friend Michael Reich, and it features Stacy Martin, who will be the lead actress in the forthcoming Lars Von Trier movie Nymphomaniac, as well as Sonja Kinski, granddaughter of Klaus and daughter of Nastassja. Man, I need to get me one of those Magic Dream Girl Eggs!
