It must be a dream for a New Zealand-based indie band to release their debut long player on legendary Flying Nun Records. The impact bands like The Clean, The Bats, The Dead C, etc. have had on the modern alternative landscape is impressive (see Yo La Tengo, Pavement, et al.). This has become reality for the Auckland foursome Ghost Wave as they are set to release their debut, Ages, on Flying Nun August 27th. Having already released one single and a video for “Here She Comes”, the quartet have now revealed a second single, “Bootlegs”. “Bootlegs” infectious, jangly garage pop is layered with easy going vocals that are cleaner and less shoe-gaze tinged than the previous single. The band has not released a tour schedule for the US, but plans are in the works. Have a listen to the new single below:
