The 18 year old UK musician Archy Marshall, aka King Krule, possesses the kind of voice and song writing skills that belie his young years. Born and raised in south-east London, his staggering baritone voice and and razor sharp lyrics are saturated with a gritty and tough urban life. While his voice has a punk quality you can’t fake, his ability to vary his delivery and style, as we heard this week on Mount Kimbie‘s dub-step influenced track “You Took Your Time“, where his delivery is basically rapped, Marshall seems to possess a unique and generational talent. This week King Krule announced the release of his debut LP Six Feet Beneath the Moon, coming out on August 24th, Archy’s 19th birthday, via True Panther Sounds. “Easy Easy” is the album’s first single and lead cut, and it’s the kind of griping track that leaves you on the edge of your seat wondering just what might come next. Using a stripped down garagey blues, the track is built around Marshall’s stunning voice and uncompromising lyrical vision.
