If you’ve ever wondered what it would sound like to hear Matmos cover The Strangeloves via Bow Wow Wow, while celebrating their favorite bad boy de jour, NSA-leaker Edward Snowden, wait no longer! The duo recently stopped by Permanent Records for an in-store, and dropped their warped take on the teen-crushed sugar-pop classic “I Want Candy”, repurposing it as “I Want Snowden“. While the skeleton of the track is left mostly intact, with it’s hop-scotch beat and unmistakeable, beach-flavored guitar line, the vocals are put thru some serious filtering, and the duo add a complete sonic meltdown to close.
