Julia Holter‘s up-coming LP Loud City Song comes out August 20th on Domino Records, and today we have the new video for “In the Green Wild“. The track once again displays Holter’s extraordinary compositional sense, which is always experimental in that she allows the compositions to go wherever they need to in the service of her vision, but, while her methods lean towards the avant-garde, the results are always inviting! Using stand-up bass, horns, and strings, Holter weaves an ambulating tapestry that provides the perfect backdrop for her surreal, and dynamically delivered narrative. Loud City Song, the artist’s first studio album proper, will present a unified narrative of tracks that can stand individually, or as a collection, and “In the Green Wild” finds the album’s main character walking from city into a forest of trees. The video for the cut is directed by Yelena Zhelelov, and it might be thought of as a re-imagining of Luigi Pirandello’s Six Characters in Search of an Author, as we watch the rag-tag cast of vaudeville characters seemingly searching for a plot.
