“Back to the underworld, back to the sea…” Crystal Stilts return on September 17th with their third LP, Nature Noir, due out on Sacred Bones. As you can hear on the track “Future Folklore“, the Brooklyn quintet is continuing to delve more deeply into a vintage sounding, backroads psychedelia, while traveling the outskirts of Velvet Underground County. The twang in JB Townsend‘s guitar sounds a bit like Sterling Morrison’s on the cut, and singer Brad Hargett, while still singing lyrics that seem influenced by interests in mythology and folklore, sounds almost playful as he waxes poetic about an “event horizon that sucks [his] eyes in”. Crystal Stilts head out for a US tour tomorrow, and they will hook up with Deerhunter for some select dates on the East coast, so don’t miss ’em below.
