New Video: Black Bananas “Earthquake”

1835

Jennifer Herrema‘s project Black Bananas have a new video for their track “Earthquake“, which was on the band’s 2012 LP Rad Times Xpress IV (Drag City). On “Earthquake”, Herrema’s crew precedes out of some pretty spacey beginnings, sounding something like Sun Ra’s Arkestra jamming with Hawkwind, before they settle into a trashy scuzz groove, and unleash a virulent, disorienting strain of acid rock. The video for the cut is directed by BrainDrain, with animations from PretzelWorld, and it features a montage of repurposed B-movie clips with plenty of car chases, mud wrestling, Cold War showdowns, and apocalyptic explosions! Word is, Black Bananas are readying their new LP Electric Brick Wall for release later this year on Drag City, so keep your eyes out for that. The band will also play a handful of tour dates starting later this month, so check ’em out below…
