From Toronto’s seedy underbelly comes HSY! The band’s self-titled debut EP drops September 17th on Buzz Records, and today we check out “Tartar Mouth”, off the upcoming album. The band plays a raw and brutal brand of post-punk, and on this track the four-piece carves their way into the song on a pulsing squall of feedback, before unleashing a grungy mess of low end, stumble drunk guitar lines, and vocals that feel like some sort of verbal assault. In other words, this sounds real good to our ears! HSY recorded their new EP with Dean Tzenos and Ian Gomes in a small, empty church on the outskirts of Toronto. Not quite sure who would let these folks into church, but I’m sure it’s a mistake they’ll never make again! Live in Canada or NY? Well then, you just might be able to catch HSY live…
