Atlanta’s Dog Bite have this killer cover of the Bauhaus track “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” available for download via the Carpark Records’ Soundcloud page today. The band also released their LA EP earlier this week via the label. Running just over 13 minutes, the four song EP is the follow-up to this year’s LP release Velvet Changes, however it is Dog Bite’s first efforts as a full band. For many years Dog Bite was the experimental music project of Phil Jones, who also plays keyboards as part of Washed Out’s touring band, but more recently the project has evolved with the addition of bassist Woody Shortridge, and the release of the Velvet Changes LP. To continue that progression, the LA EP finds Phil Jones writing songs with Shortridge and the rest of his touring band, after a string of US dates with labelmates Toro Y Moi found Dog Bite with some idle time in Los Angeles. The result might be short, but these four hazy, bliss inducing tracks are, hopefully, the promise of more to come…
