Listen: ERAAS “Old Magic”

ERAAS will emerge from their crepuscular bunker deep beneath Brooklyn on November 12th with Initiation, their newest LP due out on Felte. Robert Toher and Austin Stawiarz continue to create a haunting music that seems to hang in the balance between sleep and waking. Forming ERAAS from the ashes of the New England project Apse, which had disbanded after a 12 year run in 2010, Toher was again joined by his childhood friend and former bandmate Austin Stawiarz, and since that time, the two have pursued a music of magickal purposes. While most bands seem content to entertain or titillate, ERAAS have followed their muses down a more mysterious and ancient path! As their newest offering Initiation might suggest, this is a music of ritual intent, meant to open that space between our everyday reality and our more inner, subconscious realms. On “Old Magic“, they use a slithering beat and seductive bass, with Toher’s eery, echoing vocals, to entice us thru a strange door, and by the time we hear the temple bells at the song’s end, it’s too late to turn back! Looks like ERAAS will play with Odonis Odonis and HSY on September 21st at Death By Audio in NY, as well as headlining few live dates over the next couple of months, so here they are…
