Tropic of Cancer channels a bleak and gothic vibe on “Court of Devotion“, off her upcoming September 23rd LP Restless Idylls, due out on Blackest Ever Black. Camella Lobo has written and performed all the tracks for the new record, and it was produced by Downwards label owner Karl O’Connor. “Court of Devotion” is steeped in a dank, monastic atmosphere, and it’s reverb heavy drum machine seems to doll out stinging lashes as penance for a lover’s neglect. Lobo’s guitar conjures a haunted, slow churning as a chilled, bleak air seeps into the ancient sounding room, and her chimera-like vocals reflect and refract amongst the sonic layers forming one more enigmatic veil to the music!
