New Video: Crystal Stilts “Star Crawl”

800

The new Crystal Stilts LP Nature Noir comes out September 17th on Sacred Bones, and today the band released a video for “Star Crawl” directed by Daniel Fetherston. Using a striking montage of nature footage, Fetherston applies a light dose of color effects to create a solarized and slightly altered reality. In talking about the video, the band explains,

“We took off one morning to go capture random sweeping scenes. Rivers and valleys, trees and ponds… in a word, nature. I guess the album has that feel as opposed to the earliest Crystal Stilts material, which could refer to the cities, the subways, thoughts and frustrations that are kept inside oneself. This song is perhaps about doing grandiose things, but knowing it’s not in you. The long sweeping shots of the Hudson Valley, and elsewhere at least somewhat resemble the scale of those claims.”

We previewed the tracks “Star Crawler” and “Future Folklore” earlier this summer, so follow the links to listen to those cuts. Crystal Stilts leave for a US tour in support of the new record starting on September 18th, and you can check the dates after the video…
