Road To Shaanxi is an electronic producer from Bristol, and his debut 4-song EP Revelation is due out September 23rd on True Panther Sounds. We’ve got scant info on the lad, as according to TPS, the musician responsible for the project is choosing to remain anonymous at this time. All they have to report is this, “Road To Shaanxi is a producer we met on the internet.” Well, that’s okay, as the music has plenty to say on it’s own! “Revelation” follows a rather singular dream logic while sonically alternating between lush and gritty terrain. While things might begin innocently enough with a barely distinguishable flutter of sounds and the faint echo of water, it’s not long before the track really begins to pick up, and by the time the bit-crushed bass drops and a hyped up vocal sample implores us, “I want it nasty”, things are rapidly destabilizing and getting out of hand quickly! The video treatment for the cut uses a single vantage shot from an elevated train somewhere in China, and it’s initially measured gait, rapid acceleration, and gliding slow-downs are a perfect visual accompaniment for the track’s alternating pace.
