The Brooklyn duo ERAAS are getting ready to release their sophomore LP Initiation on November 12th via Felte, and today we take a listen to the album’s title track. Like sonic alchemists, Robert Toher and Austin Stawiarz have continued to essentialize their sound since their seminal days with Apse, the atmospheric New England post-rock band that at one time was made up of six members, including two drummers. On “Initiation“, ERAAS hang their eery spell on strands of gossamer, needing only the barest of elements to create a cinematic sense of place for the listener. Opening with a rudimentary beat, sampled and looped, the track begins to rise thru the aethyrs on reflective pools of synth as Toher’s other worldly vocals weave spells to unlock the inner doors. Pure Magick! ERAAS will play some live dates in November, including two days at the ATP Festival in the UK, so here they are…
