Mogwai‘s upcoming LP Rave Tapes (Sub Pop/Rock Action) will be out January 20th, and today we preview the track “Remurdered“. The Scottish quintet continues to explore a growing electronic palette, and on the cut Mogwai cedes sonic space to a more synth driven approach, which means that the band’s guitars and drums are increasingly more integrated with their digital counterparts, for a very future age sound! The intro and build-up, here, are killer, as the band slowly sharpens eery synths and a slowly evolving bass-line into a menacing hook, by which they drag you down dark alleys into a captivating and cinematic noir mystery. The writing for the new album happened this year in Glasgow and Berlin, and Mogwai recorded Rave Tapes with producer Paul Savage at their Castle Of Doom studio in Scotland at the end of this summer, following their live Zidane shows. Mogwai promises lots of activity for 2014, including the potential for live dates in Africa. Stay tuned!
