New Track: Sapphire Slows “Rules”

The Japanese bedroom producer Sapphire Slows is getting ready to release her Allegoria LP via Not Not Fun on November 5th, and today we take a listen to the track “Rules“. According to the artist’s Facebook page, she makes most of her tracks using Casio keyboards and Abelton. Her debut LP True Breath (Not Not Fun) was an entrancing, meticulously produced listen full of gauzy, ghost-like sonics, and while echoes of urban nightlife pulsed thru, they seemed to be filtering thru layers of dream. On “Rules”, Sapphire Slows descends from her crepuscular reveries right into the heart of the late night action with an All-Alerts Bulletin-type tone emitting immediately. To this, the artist adds an arpeggiating bass-line that commands with dance floor authority, and while the energies get pretty hyped-up and chaotic on this techno groove, with the introduction of her vocals, cooler heads prevail! Sapphire Slows kicks off a North American tour in Toronto this coming Friday, so here are the rest of the dates…
