The Italian trio Soviet Soviet brew up a potent blend of dark wave and post-punk on this stellar track “No Lesson“, and on November 11th the band will release their debut LP Fate, on Felte Sounds. Soviet Soviet is from Pesaro, on the Adriatic Coast of Italy, and the band is comprised of vocalist/guitarist Alessandro Costantini, lead vocalist/bassist Andrea Giometti, and drummer Alessandro Ferri. Soviet Soviet self-released a handful of singles in 2009, as well as the Summer, Jesus EP in 2011, and the new record finds the band continuing to craft their compositional abilities, as well as dialing in the production techniques needed to capture their dark, tightly wound sound. On “No Lesson” they get it all right, and while the track may be immediately nostalgia inducing for fans of late 80’s early 90’s shoegaze and post-punk, Soviet Soviet bring a raw and welcome yearning to their music that just spills out of this recording.
