The new video from Mikal Cronin for the track “Peace of Mind“, off his May 2013 LP MCII (Merge Records), features Mary Timony as a plaintive motel maid. Directed by Lara Gallagher and produced by Nate Baston, the video has an excellent sense for shot composition and styling, and using plain but poignant images we watch Timony as she goes about her daily rounds cleaning rooms. Looking every bit the part with her ashtray eyes and pale blue maids outfit, Timony exudes longing and dissatisfaction until it all boils over into a soggy act of defiance. Along the way we meet a soulless hotel manager, waltzing octogenarians, and Mikal Cronin on every TV screen. Cronin has recently wrapped up a long year of touring, but it looks like he will play a few select US dates in December, so check them out below.
