In anticipation of their upcoming US tour, Palm Violets released a new video today for “Rattlesnake Highway“, one of the standout tracks on their debut release 180, out now on Rough Trade. The new video is directed by Douglas Hart, one of the founding members of The Jesus and Mary Chain and also a prolific producer of music videos, and it uses striking imagery of snake handlers and charismatic churchgoers in the throes of the Spirit, coupled with electric live imagery of the band, to depict the kind of raucous energy Palma Violets are capable of generating. Referencing the band’s overwhelmingly warm reception live, Parma Violet’s road manger Harry Violet explained in a recent Facebook message,
“Its the rampant and shameless spirit from all of you that’s thickened the air in every show and perpetuated the force of brash, pugnacious and debased effrontery. Every single one of you thats been there; dancing screaming, contributing to the cacophony, you deserve a tip of the hat and hopefully you’ll get some of that from the new vid.”
Couldn’t of said it better…(Don’t miss the live dates below).
