Amazing new video today from Eiko Ishibashi for the track “Imitation of Life“, off her upcoming LP release of the same name, due out November 19th on Drag City. Directed by the Japanese visual artist, animator, and VJ, TAKCOM, or Takafumi Tsuchiya, the video creates mesmerizing abstract worlds out of geometric shapes and iconographic images like skulls and satellites, and setting this various collection of two and three dimensional objects into mechanized motion, the artist creates Escher-like mazes that are guaranteed to tantalize the eyes. Eikio Ishibashi is a talented multi-instrumentalist, singer, and song-writer, and she has shared the stage with many outstanding experimental musicians such as Jim O’Rourke, Keiji Haino, Oren Ambarchi, and Merzbow. “Imitation of Life” is a prog-pop masterpiece that showcases Ms. Ishibashi’s formidable musical talents and ability for creating emotive, yet complex sonics, from soaring, super-charged orchestrals, and her flawless, jewel-like vocals.
