Obits‘ newest LP Bed & Bugs is out now on Sub Pop, and this past weekend they released a very cool animated video for their track “Operation Bikini“. Featuring drawings from Perry Shall, and produced by the band’s guitarist/vocalist Sohrab Habibion, in conjunction with the video’s editor Nick Sewell, the video makes excellent use of stock photo images and hand-drawn animations. In “Operation Bikini”, space visitors arrive on earth via flying saucer, only to find it a boneyard of war and famine. The scribbled craft hightails it deep into the desert, where a cartoon of the band’s other guitarist/vocalist, Rick Froberg, is delivered in larval-form from a giant skull, and after scooting around for a look at things, it’s clear he doesn’t like what he sees. A “must-see” kaleidoscope of psychedelic freak-out follows! Obits kick off a short west coast tour starting tomorrow in San Francisco at Bottom of the Hill, so check out the dates below!
