Gang Gang Dance’s Brian DeGraw has released his debut solo effort Sum/One under the moniker bEEdEEgEE, and it’s out this week on 4AD. Today, the artist put out a new video for the track “Flowers“, and it features vocals, as well as a starring role in the video, from CSS’ Lovefoxxx. Directed by DeGraw, and in collaboration with Vinyl Williams, the video composites a strange smattering of warped visuals, most notably Lovefoxxx with luminous bee-like eyes, but the heavily treated 3-D animations of a far-out tropical local, complete with expensive cars, are quite the visual bender too! That’s good, cause from a sonic perspective “Flowers” is also a rather singular varietal of electro-pop. Billed as “a love song to the humble perennial”, DeGraw travels wide afield here using a cinematic and dizzying array of audio sources that include found sounds and samples, before setting sail on a neon colored and oddly filtered electro-pop vibe, complete with an ultimately rousing vocal track from Lovefoxxx!
