Stephen Malkmus has been “tripping his face off since breakfast” in his new video with The Jicks for the track “Cinnamon and Lesbians.” The cut is off the group’s upcoming LP Wig Out At Jagbags, due out January 6/7 on Domino/Matador Records. While Malkmus has often used his unique lyrical gifts to craft a tongue-and-cheek literary veneer that is mostly meant to obfuscate the emotional distance between himself and the audience, the results are often so singularly witty as to astound in their own right!
On “Cinnamon and Lesbians”, Malkmus finds himself “Shanghaied in Oregon. Taking in the “wind swept afternoon” while introducing us to Christian sailors, “smooth talkin’, jack-off jailors”, and his “glass-blowin’ neighbors” Malkmus ultimatly opining, “life is free, take what you need”! Directed by Jay Winebrenner, the video follows a literal approach to the lyrics depicting them thru a series of funny vignettes…
