Mogwai‘s upcoming LP Rave Tapes is due out January 21st on Sub Pop, and today the label posted the band’s new video for “The Lord Is Out Of Control” on their YouTube page. Filmed and directed by Antony Crook, and shot in Hawaii earlier this year, the video follows several male and female characters as they encounter moments of quiet awe. We watch as one character seems to wander into a trapeze practice, watching as bodies spin from various swings in quiet repose. In another vignette, an artist moves about his studio and yard in rapt creative engagement as he assembles and mounts odd, masked totems on long, thin poles. Beautifully shot, Crook knows how to get out of the way and really let his character’s simple, attentive moments shine thru, as in the final scene where a hiker watches as a flaming sunset sinks into the smoking sea! Mogwai heads out for a European and US tour beginning in January, so don’t miss the dates below.
