Listen Now: Silver Arm “Gunboat”

507

The UK quartet Silver Arm will return on March 3rd with their fierce, urgent brand of post-punk! The band is preparing to release a new 10″, He of the Slow Creep, via the Big Tea Label, and today we rip into it with this thrilling track, “Gunboat“. Melding the roar of metal with the wire tight angularity of post-punk is something this band does very well, and with production from Rory Attwell, who has also worked with post-punk/grunge acts like Male Bonding, Palma Violets, and PAWS, Silver Arm deliver their gritty sonics on a razor’s edge. “Gunboat” begins by trying out a sludgy metal riff, before Leon Forde launches headlong into a tense and circling guitar line; then, see-sawing vigorously between the two, with hard-hitting low-end provided by drummer Ben Brown and bassist Tom Answer, the track really reaches a maniacal pitch, as singer Gareth Hughes unleashes a vocal delivery of feverish, surreal poetry and screaming negation! If you live in London you can catch Silver Arm on February 28th at The Hope & Anchor in Islington, for the band’s EP release party!
