Today we have a new video from Lee Renaldo and the Dust for their track “Late Descent #2” off the 2013 LP Last Night On Earth out now on Matador Records. Directed by Vice Cooler, the video intersperses dizzy, intimate footage of Renaldo playing various guitars, while incorporating generous helpings of glitter and instrument smashing. And, as if that’s not enough, looks like it was filmed at the awesome, all-ages venue The Smell, in LA.

For Last Night on Earth, Renaldo was joined by former Sonic Youth bandmate Steve Shelley on drums, bassist Tim Luntzel, as well as guitarist Alan Licht, and the album was inspired by the time Ranaldo spent trapped inside his apartment during Hurricane Sandy. As Renaldo explains:

“A solo record works best when you feel like you’re opening a window into somebody’s life, experiencing the things they’re going through or thinking about, places they’re seeing, through their eyes…”

Indeed, on a track like “Late Descent #2” there is a real personal, almost homespun feel, as Renaldo’s intimate vocal delivery seems almost foregrounded to the intricate interplay between the strings! Lee Renaldo and the Dust will play some select East coast dates this month, as well as the Red Bull Sound Select in Atlanta, GA on January 25th. Check the dates out below.
