The Chicago psych band OnYou will return this February with the LP Ultimum Photon a Sole, their sixth release for Captcha Records, so let’s kick off the week with the band’s new video for their track “The Wronskian“. Created by Chris Cowgill, and with editing from Captcha’s Benjamin Funke, the video features some seriously strobed and psychotronic visuals, and their filming of re-presented news footage further skews notions of “authenticity” and “presentation” to create a really turned-on visual experience! “The Wronskian” unfolds as a tense, spiraling space jam before boiling over into pyrotechnic sonics and mantric vocals, and the video uses old 60’s footage of what appears to be a very intense press conference, with a heavy treatment of twitchy and flashing visuals, to create a simmering and dramatic equivalent.
