Unfortunately we missed out on telling you about HTRK‘s new single “Blue Sunshine” last week. The track is off the band’s upcoming LP Psychic 9-5 Club due out March 31st via Ghostly International. For the new record, Jonnine Standish and Nigel Yang chose to record with Excepter’s Nathan Corbin down in New Mexico at Blazer Sound Studios, and the recordings were later refined and tweaked in Australia, before being finished up in NY.
On “Blue Sunshine,” Yang’s interest in the techniques of dub produce some seriously deep-bass sonics that release depth charges of reverberating low-end; and while Standish’s shell-shocked vocals often had a ghostly quality to them on the duo’s 2011 LP Work (Work Work), here her husky delivery seems re-embodied as she offers us “healthy doses of inner peace/blue sunshine”.
