The inimitable Daniel Higgs will again team up with the equally singular Swedish avant-rock group The Skull Defects for their upcoming LP Dances In The Dreams Of The Known Unknown, due out April 8th via Thrill Jockey Records. Today, we preview the new work with this stellar video for the track “Awaking Dream“, created by the filmmaker Nanna Dalunde from what she calls “found material”, which is quite possibly meant to give an interesting, added meaning to that term! Comprised of elegantly stark, black and white time-lapse imagery of opening flowers, this video pulses to the taut drone and hum of The Skull Defekts post-punk sonics, as well as Daniel Higg’s seemingly spontaneous and ecstatic poetry. According to Thrill Jockey, The Skull Defekts will tour Europe and the US with Higgs sometime later this year, but it seems dates are yet to be announced…so we’ll keep our eyes out!
