Tycho will release his new LP Awake on March 18th via Ghostly International, and the artist has announced a bunch of US and European tour dates for this coming spring! Awake will be Scott Hansen’s second album for Ghostly, and on this follow-up to 2011’s Dive LP, Hansen has invited his touring musicians, guitarist/bassist Zac Brown and drummer Rory O’Connor, to join the creative fold. Looking to capture the energy of their live sound, with an emphasis in particular on the drumming, Hansen and Brown began to flesh out ideas for Awake while staying in a cabin near Tahoe last winter, but things really got cookin’ when the trio reconvened later that year, setting up shop just outside Santa Cruz.
The result is a gorgeously sublime post-rock record with nary a hair out of place! Built around the future-forward, patterned interplay between Hansen’s synth and Brown’s guitar, the record also simmers with O’Connor’s propulsive drumming to deliver an integrated and organically detailed sound perfect for mellow lunar orbiting!
