The UK electronic duo Plaid will release their tenth album Reachy Prints on May 20th via Warp Records. Today we preview the upcoming work with a listen to their new track “Hawkmoth.” After twenty-five years of musical production, Andy Turner and Ed Handley have learned to expertly distill the trademarks of their sound while still discovering new and unexpected sonic territories along the way.
While the edges around “Hawkmoth” are more lunar and otherworldly in nature, the track’s driving melodies are warm and buoyant with the kind of vibrant, stylish color palette we’ve come to expect from the pair. Augmented by expert production, the sounds here take on varying degrees of weight and mass allowing them to be felt by the body. That means this music absolutely comes to life when played at higher volumes, and should produce quite the uplifting club experience!
