It doesn’t take much more than one listen to have Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks‘ track “Little Fang“, with it’s otherworldly dream funk, stuck in the ol’ noggin’! The new video for the track has been directed by longtime Animal Collective collaborator Abby Portner, and she pulls out all the stops here, creating a puppet odyssey complete with a visit to the carnival, and references to classic horror films like Psycho and the original Frankenstein.
As if that wasn’t enough, the puppet for Little Fang, part cat and part werewolf, was created in Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, wrangled by Michael Wick (Nightmare Before Christmas), and puppet mastered by Tim Lagasse (Crash and Bernstein & Sesame Street). Turns out Abby and her husband are big fans of Jim Henson, who, as she explains, “…had a funny dark side, so we tried to make a video that also had a light hearted dark side”. Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks’ LP Enter The Slasher House is due out April 7/8th via Domino Records.
