The Dum Dum Girls‘ track “Are You Okay” is featured in a new short film written by Less Than Zero author Bret Easton Ellis, and directed by the fraternal duo Brewer (Alt J, Purity Ring, Passion Pit). The video stars Dee Dee Penny and actor Shiloh Fernandez in a beautifully shot and styled psychological thriller full of surreal, dream-like twists. As the film’s protagonist, Dee Dee seems to be losing track of what is fantasy and what is reality, as she becomes haunted by her blonde doppelgänger and lead inextricably down the hallways of memory/fact to the film’s mysterious and terrifying conclusion. Quite the collaborative work, Are You Okay also includes art from Charles Ray, shot at the Matthew Marks Gallery, as well as a dark and eery musical score composed by Tamaryn and Drew McDowall.
