Channeling the psychedelic side of avant-pop using some seriously turned-on sonics, and what seems to be an equally turned-on creative approach, Daniel O’Sullivan (Guapo, Ulver, and Aethenor) and Alexander Tucker (Imbogodom) follow Krautrock down a rabbit hole to discover an extraordinary, pulsating realm of subterranean mystery on this album. Utilizing a wide palette of acoustic and electronic instrumentation in conjunction with found sounds, and often augmented by the duo’s intertwining vocal incantations, Glynnaestra holds the keys to a magickal, tryptamine-tinged world of sonic oddities! The visuals for “Protogenesis” composite a wild onslaught of flickering colors over text, and a kaleidoscopic array of images that include the duo mirrored in negative relief.
